Good Reads Synopsis:
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
My Thoughts:
Half-Blood did not disappoint. I loved everything about it, from the mythology to all the characters. Alex is one tough girl. She was lots of fun to read about. She reminded me of Rose from VA, strong, sassy, brave, etc. She's one heroine that you won't soon forget. Aiden is like the perfect hero. He's charming, sweet, courageous, loyal and strong. If only there were guys like him in real life. A girl can dream. And Seth and Caleb are just awesome. I love those guys.
I really thought that the storyline was great. There were plenty of drama, romance, and scary monsters. Some things were a teeny tiny bit predictable, but I still enjoyed and loved the story. What I really loved though was the mythology. I'm a sucker for Greek mythology, so yeah, it was my favorite aspect of the story, besides Aiden and Alex. And the forbidden romance; it just made things all the more interesting in Half-Blood. There were lots, and I mean lots, of great scenes with Aiden and Alex. Half-Blood is most definitely one of my favorite reads of 2011. I can't wait for the next book Pure to come out!
Nice review! Another one of my most favorite series ever.
